Radiant Floor Heating

Warm Your Floor is one of the nations leading distrubors of Nuheat, a company that produces radiant floor heating systems which are considered to be the most comfortable and energy efficient system of indoor home heating.

The Nuheat electric Radiant Floor Heating mat comes pre-built and ready to install right out of the box. The Floor Heating Mat is constructed of heating elements that rest within a durable fabric mat. The mats are a mere 1/8″ in thickness, are are able to keep your home’s tiles warm in just about any remodeling or new home construction project.

Once the Electric Heating Mats are plugged into an electrical outlet the electric resistance begins to warm up the contained heating mat wires and in effect the flooring above it. Nuheat produces approximately 12 watts per square foot, which at full power sets a floor temperature of between 80 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit. The Nuheat floor heating mats truly are the perfect solution to enjoy the benefits of having warm floors, whether it be in the master bathroom, the kitchen, or family room. Nuheat mats have undergone rigorous testing and are both UL Listed (Underwriter’s Laboratory) and CSA Certified (Canadian Standards Association) so you can rest assured that they are completely safe to install in your home.

Radiant Heating Advantages

It is common knowledge that carpeting is a home for dust mites. In fact, the amount of dust mites in carpeting, in addition to pet dander, dust, mold, pollen, and feathers, demonstrate the need to remove this allergy home from all homes. Heated floors have brought in a new kind of allergy free living. The supreme benefits for people who suffer from allergies is shocking.

Radiant floor heating does not emit any drafts and does not use any kind of fans or blowers to agitate and agitate these bacteria infested allergens. Not only do heating and air conditioning units provoke the allergens in your home, but they also house unhealthy mold, dirt, pet dander and fur, and other allergens. Not only do they trigger a great multiplication of all of these allergens, but the moisture in the ducts harbors deadly bacteria. In fact, because you have ducts in every room in your home, you are essentially multiplying the breeding area for these horribly unhealthy allergens and bacteria, passing them on to everyone in your home.

Everyone knows that dust mites are the leading cause of allergic respiratory disease. Also, the significant growth of industry and manufacturing, in addition to higher traffic areas have more and more people suffering from allergies. Doctors agree the first step for severe allergy sufferers is to get rid of. Everyone knows that it does not matter how often you vacuum, you can never eliminate all of the dust mites and germs in your carpets. Additionally , when you walk on your carpet, all of the dirt and allergens are compacted into several inches worth of brutal allergy pandemonium. Installing radiant heating in your house eliminates the need for carpeting, consequently giving your family a cleaner, protected environment come home to.Recently a European research project has demonstrated that radiant floor heating diminishes the number of dust mites, successfully ending the battle on the allergies of your loved ones, by heating the floor and not the air.

Efficiency of Hydronic Heating

Monday, June 1st, 2009

Hydronic heating is a technology that utilizes hot water or steam to transfer heat into a space. This differs from forced air heat in that heat is contained within a pipe until it reaches the place to be heated. Because hydronic heat can be put in a specific spot, it can be more efficient than forced air heat.

Hydronic heating systems have been around for decades in the form of steam and hot water radiators. These radiators are popular in large buildings and campuses, because they permit many units to be served from one steam source. This method is also used in some cities to provide heat from a central furnace to entire districts.

Old-fashioned radiator systems rely on air convection to transfer heat into a room. The heat does not actually radiate out into the space. Instead, the difference in temperature makes convection currents, pulling cooler air into the radiator space to be warmed by the radiator.

Hydronic floor heating systems have become very popular for new construction. Tubing is arranged under the floor of a room, either into a poured floor slab made of concrete or a thin concrete mixture placed on top of the floor deck. This fluid can be water or some other substance, such as anti-freeze. Once the system is completed, the room is heated as warm air rises from the floor.

The water may be warmed by a heater, as in traditional radiator systems, or heat may come from a solar collection system. This makes hydronic floor heating environmentally sustainable and cuts utility expenses. Because the water will flow naturally as the result of temperature differences, no pumping system is needed, so long as the tubing is correct diameter for the application.

The tubes used to carry the fluid in an hydronic heating system send their warmth to the floor material, which then heats the room. A thicker slab will soak up heat more slowly, and radiate it into the room over a longer period of time. For this reason, solar heating systems work best with a thick slab. A heating system that uses a propane or electric water heater can alter temperature more readily than a solar heating system. In this case, the slab can be much thinner than the four inches recommended for systems that use solar heat.

Because solar based installations rely on thermosiphon, or movement by convection, to move the fluid, they may develop blockages caused by air bubbles. When the primary source of heat will be a solar collector, the system may also have a small pump to remove air from the system as needed. Systems that use boilers to give heat are not susceptible to being hampered by air bubbles.

Hydronic heating is an old idea that meshes well with new methods. It is a flexible way to heat buildings, and provides environmental and financial benefits. With multiple heat sources to select from, it’s a sensible option for new construction.
